Back to school

The month of August is all about back to school at Helping Makes U Happy.  

This year, we have committed to the challenge of helping 400 students in need with new backpacks filled with school supplies!  

Some will be going to students referred to us by area schools and some will be going to Suffolk County Sheriff Toulon’s Back to School Fair. I’m so happy to have been invited to participate in this event on Aug. 19, and some will be going to other organizations who’ve asked for our help.

We are extremely thankful for the partnership of our friends at Girl Scouts of Suffolk County Service Unit 48, who are assisting us with collecting supplies, and of course, as always, thankful for our generous community members.

We are also excited to be participating in the National Night Out, cosponsored by the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office and the Town of Brookhaven. This event aims to foster community partnerships and promoting neighborhood safety and will be held on Aug. 6 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Fireman’s Memorial Park, in Ridge.

Lastly, we are hard at work with preparation for our big October events, which take lots of planning!
