The Moriches Community Center will be hosting a memorial fundraiser for the late director Kathleen A. Johnson on Sunday, Aug. 25. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the center located at 313 Frowein Road in Center Moriches. Refreshments will be served.
There will also be an art auction featuring Johnson and other local artists. All the proceeds will go toward The Community Center, direct donations can be made as well.
Organizers are also requesting attendees bring their favorite stories and memories of Johnson. If you have any photographs, please also send them in advance to Emily.ushko@yahoo.co with “Kathleen” in the subject.
Johnson, known as a selfless community leader, died surrounded by loved ones on April 18, 2024, at 68 years old.
